Why be a H.E.R.O.?
As a team of law enforcement officers and educators, we have become increasingly concerned about school shootings. We combined our professional knowledge of best practices in the sciences of protection and education to help save lives. The H.E.R.O. program is a result of that collaboration.
The H.E.R.O. program is specifically designed to teach elementary children how to respond to life-threatening events with simple, easy-to-remember and truly effective strategies.
The vital leadership role that is required of teachers is all the more critical during a violent intruder situation. But, because danger is not contained to classrooms, the H.E.R.O. program includes tools for school-family connection. Both the school and the family will learn empowerment strategies that will keep them safe in school and beyond.
